Things to do.

Some ideas to keep you amused in Islandmagee.

Brown’s Bay

Whether you want a stroll along the shoreline to the famous "Rocking Stone", or just want to dip your feet in the water, why not visit Brown's Bay.  Offering a clean sandy beach, and great conditions for water sports, what's stopping you from getting those shorts on? Except perhaps the weather that is!!

Steele's shop is situated to the west of the bay, offering its famous ice cream.

There is also a camping area for caravans and tents if you are a little more adventurous.  To book a spot, telephone 028 2826 0088.

Portmuck

Portmuck is a small harbour at the east of the island, offering great views out to sea toward Scotland. There is a newly erected coastal pathway which now makes it possible to walk from the harbour round to the back shores of Portmuck to view Muck Island.  The island is a bird sanctuary with nesting seabirds, shags, puffins, razorbills, kittiwakes, fulmars, gannets, gulls and migrating land birds to be seen.

Sea Angling

Brown's Bay and Portmuck both have excellent opportunities for shore fishing.

Diving

There are over 40 shipwrecks and spectacular drop offs abounding in a wide variety of sea life. From the novice to the professional, the waters here have something to offer all diving enthusiasts.

North Irish Lodge luxury holiday cottages and dive centre caters for the more adventurous among us.  Whether you'd like to go Scuba Diving or on a Sea Safari, you're guaranteed to have a great time.

Bird watching

Larne Lough is a wetland of international significance and is used by a wide variety of species as a breeding and feeding ground. Swan Island, in the Lough, is one of the seven areas in Northern Ireland with an SPA (special protection area) classification.
